Organizers announced Monday that due to thunderstorms in the forecast, and out of an abundance of caution, the fourth annual Taste of Blue Back Square has been moved from Wednesday, July 31, to Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Isham Road in Blue Back Square will be closed to vehicular traffic for the event.

In addition to a wide variety of food to sample from Blue Back Square restaurants, guests will be able to listen to music courtesy of a local radio station. There will be a raffle with special prizes, and proceeds benefiting Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, in honor of Jacob Cantor, son of Mayor Shari Cantor, who received life-saving treatment there for a heart condition.

Guests can get their hair styled in a braid or ponytail courtesy of Blo Blow Dry Bar, there will be a live painting demonstration from Muse Paintbar, and CycleBar will give a demonstration of their calorie-burning workouts.

All tickets include free valet parking. A cash bar will be provided by Two Pour Guys.

General admission tickets are $40 each, and a special VIP ticket is $50 – sponsored by West Side Wines and Classic Cakes – includes seating, free chair massage from Nurturing Hands, a special “Dark and Stormy” signature cocktail or Aperol Prosecco Spritz, and a decadent dessert.

Participating restaurants and food samples include: Balos (chicken souvlaki, pita and tzatziki); Bar Louie (blackened fish tacos, chipotle chicken tacos, voodoo pasta, hot honey chicken); Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse (tenderloin sliders); Poké-Man (cold shrimp or chicken with lettuce and warm rice); Rizzuto’s Restaurant & Bar (penne alla vodka); SPoT Coffee (iced coffee, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, and oatmeal raisin cookies); Vinted Wine Bar & Kitchen (truffle popcorn and tuna tartare); World of Beer (boneless buffalo or truffle parmesan chicken wings with ranch or blue cheese); The Green Teahouse (iced tea, bubble tea, and tea slushies); The Cheesecake Factory (cheesecake); Artisan West Hartford (Artisan tomatillo gazpacho, avocado sorbet, and breakfast radish); Flora Plant Food + Drink (vegan “burnt ends” and greco salad).
