Karen Myrick, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, ONP-BC, FAAN, ANP-BC, has been accepted into the prestigious Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) program. Myrick, a resident of West Hartford and professor of Nursing, Track Coordinator Ortho/Sports at USJ, is one of 33 American Association of Nurse Practitioners members who will be inducted as Fellows and recognized for their outstanding achievements and exemplary service on June 27 at the 2024 AANP National Conference in Nashville, Tenn.

The new Fellows will join an elite and diverse group of 942 NPs who have made – and who continue to make – a positive and profound impact on national and global health.

Established in 2000, the FAANP program is dedicated to the advancement of NPs and the high-quality health care they provide. Recognized as NP leaders who have made outstanding contributions to NP education, policy, clinical practice and research, AANP Fellows volunteer their expertise as reviewers, topical experts, committee members, journal contributors, mentors and more. FAANP strives to support the AANP mission, develop NP leaders of the future and advance the NP role.

“I am incredibly honored to be inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of nurse practitioners this year,” said Myrick. “I am humbled to join this elite group of nurse practitioners who have significant impact on the nurse practitioner profession.”

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners is the largest professional membership organization for nurse practitioners (NPs) of all specialties. It represents the interests of the more than 385,000 licensed NPs in the U.S. AANP provides legislative leadership at the local, state and national levels, advancing health policy; promoting excellence in practice, education and research; and establishing standards that best serve NPs’ patients and other health care consumers.
