On Saturday, Aug. 28, about 75 people from the region, gathered in West Hartford  Center in support of the DC March on Washington – March on for Voting Rights.

Signage included support for HR4 “The John Lewis Voters Act” and S1-HR1 “For the People Act,” ending the Senate filibuster and fair redistricting.

Among the groups represented was the League of Women Voters of Greater Hartford, who encouraged the crowd to contact their senators and congressmen in support. Towns represented included West Hartford, Bloomfield, Bristol, Burlington, Vernon , Meriden, and students from Mt. Holyoke College.

In advance of National Voter Registration Day, Sept. 28, League members also promoted VOTE411, www.vote411.org, a League of Women Voters-sponsored online voters resource with links to local races, as well as information on voter registration, polling places, ballot questions and candidate profiles.
