Watkinson Students from West Hartford Earn All New England Basketball Honors

Two West Hartford residents who are members of the Watkinson School girl’s varsity basketball team have been named All League and All New England.

Watkinson School sophomores Victoria Santiago and Michaela Boyle of West Hartford were named All League by the Hudson Valley Athletic League and All New England in the Class D category.

Watkinson’s girl’s varsity basketball team was a force to be reckoned with this year with a final record of 23-5. The team were CISAC Tournament Champions for the second year in a row and have won 6 HVAL Tournament Championships overall.

This year in the New England Class D tournament they defeated MacDuffie of Granby, MA in the quarterfinals and Southfield of Brookline, MA 68-45, in the semifinals. Michaela Boyle added 15 points and 11 assists in that game.

Tianna Conway, a senior from Manchester led all scorers with 23 points and 20 rebounds and also scored her 1,000 point in the HVAL Championship game. The Watkinson Lady Rams finished the season undefeated at home this year and look forward to next years run under the 7 year reign of coach Yassine Talhaoui of Windsor.

Watkinson School is Hartford’s oldest independent day school serving students in grades 6-12/PG.  Their next open house is April 15 from 9-11 a.m.
