The West Hartford Art League is holding two special holiday events this year, both which open Friday Nov. 19, from 6-8 p.m.

The inaugural Holiday Craft Sale Weekends will showcase and sell work by local artisans in the Clubhouse Gallery, and is the sister event to the West Hartford Art League’s first Fine Art Festival held in September this year, that focused on fine arts. Three weekends of unique hand made work devoted to the craft category will be displayed by individual artists in the gallery – with each artist having a “booth” to showcase and sell their work. New artists will be featured each weekend.

A kick-off opening will take place Friday, Nov. 19, from 6-8 p.m. in the gallery with live music by Bill Benson. “Whimsically Tipsy,” a mobile bartending service, will be on site Nov. 19 as well for those who want to enjoy a hand-crafted cocktail while shopping.

Sales will continue Saturday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and will also take place the weekends of Nov. 26 and 27, and Dec. 3 and 4. Work for sale includes pottery, jewelry, hand-blown glass, wood turned vessels, printmaking, hand-painted tiles, felting, handmade journals, wood carving, and more.

A total of 22 artisans have registered to sell work over the three weekend period. Saturdays also feature “drop-in” crafts for adults and kids in the Clubhouse classroom with a $5 suggested donation. A complete schedule of activities and participating artists can be found on our the West Hartford Art League website.

Small Works, the annual exhibit featuring fine art by Art League members and local artists, will also kick off Nov. 19 from 6-8 pm. All work, sized at 14 inches or smaller, will be priced for holiday giving at $150 and under. This sale is first come, first served as art can be taken off the wall when purchased. Both sales support local artists in our community and are a great option for those looking for a one-of-a-kind gift.
