Stefanie Marco, a West Hartford mixed media artist and founder of KiNDSPiN DESiGN, focuses her work on sustainability, social justice, and building community through creativity.

Her latest series, “Pennants of Purpose: Art as a Call to Action” looks to not only inspire and bring beauty to the world, but also to mobilize people to action through the messaging that is included in the vibrant designs.

“These pennants are meant to be rallying flags – symbols of hope, justice, and compassion,” Marco said. “They honor movements that are bigger than any one of us, and they call us to step up, speak out, and make a difference.”

The pennants were designed by Marco, and hand-sewn and painted. Each of the six unique pieces represents what she considers among today’s most pressing social and environmental issues, “a bold and hopeful invitation to take action, offering visual reminders of the values we hold dear,” she said.

The causes include:

  • Peace
  • Pride & Pride Allyship
  • Protect & Respect Animals
  • Kindness
  • Save Our Planet
  • Women’s Rights

Marco looks to incorporate repurposed materials in he work, and seeks to encourage meaningful conversation. Pennants of Purpose, she said, “continues that tradition, weaving artistry with activism in a way that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.”

Pennants of Purpose is now on exhibit at the plant-based dining establishment ION Restaurant, 606 Main Street, Middletown, CT, during their regular hours of operation, and and will remain available for viewing and purchase through sometime in May. She hopes her works will “inspire daily reflection and activism” in the homes of those who purchase them.

Marco said she is also preparing smaller versions of each pennant as framed canvases.

“A portion of proceeds from these pieces will be donated directly to organizations supporting each of the six causes represented in the series,” she said.
