The West Hartford Board of Education voted on March 17 to adopt one of two proposed calendar options for the 2016-2017 school year.

Under the option selected, school will begin for students on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016. The last day of school, barring any snow or other make-up days, will be Monday, June 12, 2017. As in past years, students will not attend school on Election Day but will have classes on Veteran’s Day. February break will be two days, a long weekend that includes President’s Day. There is a week of vacation scheduled from April 10-14, that includes Good Friday which is April 14, 2017.

The alternative option had the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 29. 2016, and the last day of school as Thursday, June 8, 2017. Both options were in compliance with CREC’s Uniform Regional Calendar recommendations.

The 2014-2015 school year is currently scheduled to end on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. That date takes into account the four snow days this season. The date for high school graduation will be announced on April 1, 2015.

School will begin again on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, for the 2015-2016 school year, based on the calendar that was adopted by the Board of Education on March 18, 2014. There is a long weekend scheduled for a February and a week-long break in April, and school will end on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, if there are no snow days or other unanticipated closings.
