It’s typical for business news to slow down around the holidays, unless you’re talking about retail sales. That’s not the case in West Hartford, where several new businesses have opened during the past week, and others are getting set to move or open in the near future.

If you have tips about businesses opening or closing, or doing something worth sharing, please provide that information in the comments or email Ronni Newton at [email protected].

  • If you’re looking for a new way to work off all of those holiday treats, West Hartford’s new indoor cycling studio, The Tribe, has now opened at 1003 Farmington Ave. According to the owner, the Tribe’s bikes are a step above equipment found at other facilities in the area, offering a much more interactive experience. From The Tribe’s website: “Tribe was built to bring a workout to West Hartford unlike CT has ever seen. The necessary elements: world-class instructors, great music, exceptional service, incredible people, and a united community. Tribe will start with indoor cycling and will go from there. A workout can be, and should be, both fun and challenging. And the same indoor cycling class can be challenging for the conditioned athlete and for someone who has never been on a spin bike before. Everyone is welcome at Tribe and we mean every single person.” Introductory price promotions are offered on the website through Dec. 31.
  • Games Workshop opened Saturday, Dec. 20, at 7 South Main St. in West Hartford Center. The stores has a well-stocked assortment of games, hobby supplies, fantasy toys, and much more for last minute holiday shopping. You can also order products from the company’s website and have the items delivered directly to the store. For more information visit the Games Workshop Facebook page.
  • Construction is still ongoing at World of Beer, at 73 Isham Rd. in West Hartford’s Blue Back Square, but plans are still in place for an opening sometime in January. To follow the progresss of the tavern’s build-out, see their Facebook page.
  • Yelena Pasternak has announced that she is opening a new educational daycare business, Yelena’s Educational Place, in January 2015, and has spaces for six children. She shared the following with We-Ha.com in an email: “We would like to invite you and your little ones to our licensed family childcare educational program for toddlers and preschoolers in West Hartford, CT. Our mission is to build a place where children will receive the individual attention and care that they need to grow and learn at this important stage of their lives; where children feel safe and secure and comfortable enough to build strong friendships, and where parents can take comfort in knowing that their children are receiving the highest level of care. I am an early childhood educator with 20+ years of experience working with children of different ages. For more info please visit our website at www.yeeplace.org.”
  • Whole Foods at 50 Raymond Rd. in West Hartford Center is having a “Whole Night Sale” event on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
