West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square Annual ‘We Care Card’ Nov. 2-12

West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square merchants are gearing up for a season of giving (Nov. 2-12), with the WE CARE CARD to support Foodshare.

It’s that time again to “shop, dine, stroll, and give” as The Center and Blue Back Square businesses gear up for their annual giving event. The “We Care Card” is on sale for a donation of $50, and can be purchased at the following link:

With the purchase of the card, donors will be offered discounts and special offers in over 50 different businesses from Thursday, Nov. 2 through Sunday, Nov. 12.

The promotion enables participants to address the problem of hunger in our local area. Each $50 donation equates to 125 local meals!

“It’s the perfect time to take advantage of the savings and treat yourself to some fabulous fall fashions, do some early holiday shopping, or eat at your favorite restaurant,” said Barbara Karsky, president of the West Hartford Center Business Association, “all while helping a great organization provide meals for those who are food insecure – people who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.”

The West Hartford Center Business Association (WHCBA) is hoping to exceed the 20,000 meals they provided with their donation to Foodshare in 2016. “We’d love to push our card sales over 300 this year and be able to provide 35,000 meals,” said Karsky.

Recently the merchants were educated about the vast need right here in Hartford County. Al Marino of Foodshare told the WHCBA, “Last year we distributed over 15 million pounds of food in Greater Hartford from their warehouse in Bloomfield.”

Karsky is so excited about kicking off this event. “We love the ability to react to this need on a local level, to urge our clients to participate, enjoy the savings, and keep their donation dollars in their own community where it is so desperately needed.”

With discounts in most participating businesses at 20 percent, it has never been a better time to shop, dine, stroll, and give in West Hartford Center.
