The Town of West Hartford’s consultant has launched an interactive map as well as a survey to solicit feedback.

Stantec, the consultant hired by the town to assist with development of the West Hartford Center Infrastructure Master Plan, continues to collect feedback from the community with the launch of an interactive map as well as a survey related to the project that is currently underway.

Town officials noted that the deadline for completing a short survey has been extended through Oct. 28. Feedback is being sought on the prioritization of the various project goals, as well as input on street design elements for Farmington Avenue and LaSalle Road.

The survey asks the community to rank the relative importance of including wider sidewalks, dedicated outdoor dining, angled parking, and dedicated bike lanes on both roadways – with the understanding that not all elements may be able to be accommodated in the same space.

The interactive map allows members of the public to mark specific locations within the zone being addressed by the Master Plan where they think problems (for example with unsafe crossings, traffic signals, etc.) exist, and also to provide suggestions for solutions – as well as new opportunities – that could transform those areas. Feedback already provided by others in the community can also be viewed on the interactive map. All comments are anonymous, and many note issues with parking, sidewalk accessibility, and traffic flow and parking on LaSalle Road. There are a few requests for additional EV charging stations.

A “welcome” notice pops up when clicking on the map, which provides instructions for viewing as well as posting comments.

Stantec will present the town with concept plans later this year, and will facilitate a public meeting early in 2023 to discuss and obtain additional feedback on options.

Links to the interactive map and survey, as well as other details about the West Hartford Center Infrastructure Master Plan, can be found on the project webpage on the town’s website.

Questions or concerns can also be communicated by emailing [email protected].
