Hosted by the Noah Webster House and West Hartford Historical Society, the Halloween event offers research based, spooky tours at the Old North Cemetery (c. 1790), located next to the Center at 80 North Main Street on Oct. 22, 23, 24, 29 and 30, 2026.

Tours begin Oct. 22, and run until Oct. 30, with tours leaving every fifteen minutes starting at 6 p.m.. The tours are about 45 minutes long and sell out quickly.

Organizers recommend the event for ages 10 and older, noting that some stories of death and disease may be frightening for younger audiences.

The tours draw on historical research, including cemetery gravestones, newspaper articles, death notices and wills, to tell the stories of former West Hartford residents. The Noah Webster House develops new storylines each year, combining local history with outdoor theater to bring the lives and deaths of those who came before back to life for its Halloween tour.

Visitors must reserve tickets in advance and are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled tour. Children younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tours take place in all weather conditions, and visitors should dress accordingly. Parking is available on Loomis Drive, a short walk from the cemetery entrance.

Tickets cost $26.03 for nonmembers and $20.94 for Noah Webster House and West Hartford Historical Society members. Tickets are nonrefundable and available on their website.
