For all sports other than football, the fall sports seasons are winding down. For those teams that play a home/away series, the second match-ups between Conard and Hall are this week or next and the initial cross-town match-ups are coming up for those that compete only once.

Many of the Conard and Hall teams have sights set on success in the post-season. Cross Country has already competed in the CCC championships, and will participate in the state divisional championships at Wickham Park  on Saturday, Oct. 25.

Conard field hockey is currently ranked 6th and Hall is currently 7th in Class L, and both teams have already made the state tournament. Hall girls soccer and volleyball are already guaranteed first round action in the state tournament, while Conard girls soccer and volleyball both need one more win to qualify.

The past week saw some great competition for both Conard and Hall boys soccer.  The Conard boys had a fairly easy time with Newington last Friday night, soundly defeating the Indians 4-0 in Newington. On Monday, Conard took on the Trojans of Simsbury, a team that was tied with Farmington for first place in the CCC West. Conard held Simsbury scoreless, and an own goal by Simsbury in the first 8 minutes of play sealed the victory for the Chieftains, temporarily giving Farmington sole possession of the top spot.

On Monday night, however, Hall traveled to Farmington, and came home with a 2-1 win over a tough Indians team, making things very interesting. As of now, Hall, Simsbury, and Farmington are tied for first place in the CCC West with identical 12-2-1 records.

Conard and Hall will meet for the second time this season, with the Conard senior night re-match scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m., at Conard’s McKee Stadium. Farmington and Simsbury play each other this week as well. The top two teams in the CCC West compete in the CCC tournament, and those entries won’t be decided until after the final regular season games are complete. Conard is 10-4-1.

Both the Conard and Hall boys soccer teams have already made the Class LL tournament, and Hall is already guaranteed a home game for at least the first round.

When you read about conference play and CCC tournaments next year, there will be some different teams in the mix. Avon is set to enter the CCC next fall, with a resulting major shift in divisions for a majority of sports. According to gametimect.com, the realignment beginning with the 2015-16 school year creates CCC North, Central, and South regions, with Blue and White divisions within each. Both Conard and Hall have been assigned to the CCC Central Blue division, along with Glastonbury, Simsbury, and Southington. Avon, Bulkeley, Farmington, Northwest Catholic, Weaver, and Windsor are in the White division.

These changes apply to boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball, boys and girls outdoor track, boys and girls tennis, and boys golf. We’ll have much more information as the time for realignment gets nearer.

Scores for all sports are listed below. If you have details and/or photos from future contests, please forward them to Ronni Newton at [email protected].
