The event will take place adjacent to the popular Blue Back Farmer’s Market in the Town Hall Parking Lot at 50 South Main Street from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from owners and dealers of electric vehicles, bikes, and lawn equipment and to ask questions about owning and operating the technology. The Town of West Harford’s electric zero-turn commercial mower and new Ford E-Transit Van will be on display.

Electrification is a key strategy to decarbonize the transportation system, buildings, and other sectors in the United States, and now is a pivotal time as the planet is breaking heat records to transition to all-electric options. Additionally, the Inflation Reduction Act provides rebates for electric vehicles among its many sweeping climate investments.

“This year’s West Hartford Electric Showcase is a great opportunity to learn from owners and dealers of electric vehicles, bikes and lawn care. We’re excited to share our excitement for these technologies with our neighbors,” said Samantha Dynowski, state director of Sierra Club Connecticut. “They are not only better for the climate and the pocketbook, they are fun!”

Catherine Diviney, Town of West Hartford energy specialist, noted, “This is going to be a great community event; I hope it draws a big crowd! Electrification is a key strategy identified in the town’s Energy Plan towards a sustainable, clean energy future. Events like these, organized by our dedicated volunteers, provide a fantastic forum for education and peer learning so that residents can get the information they need to make informed choices.”
