The countdown to West Hartford’s most exciting charity event is in full swing! Tickets for the 19th Annual Mayor’s Charity Ball on May 12 are still available.

The gala benefits two local charities, Playhouse on Park and The Town That Cares. Proceeds from last year’s event covered important operating expenses for Playhouse youth programming, and helped The Town That Cares meet a significant uptick in requests for the Food Pantry.

A cocktail reception and silent auction will kick off the night, complete with an open bar.

WFSB Channel 3’s Dennis House and Kara Sundlun will co-host the ball. DORO Catering & Events will serves the official caterer. Guests will dine on an array of delicious homemade fare, showcasing the flavors and styles specific to each DORO Group restaurant, which include Treva, Àvert Brasserie, and Zohara. Passed hors d’oeuvres include truffle-scented chevre and asparagus arancini, lemongrass duck satay, and lamb meatballs with smoked eggplant puree. In addition, reception stations showcase a selection of cured Italian charcuterie and artisanal cheese, and a Taste of Zohara – the newest DORO Group endeavor – boasting a fresh and authentic taste of the Mediterranean cuisine.

A three course dinner will follow, featuring mesquite roasted angus New York strip steak and fennel-dusted sea bass.

Entertainment will be provided by stop/time dance theatre, Playhouse on Park’s resident dance company, who are celebrating their 15th year anniversary under the direction of Playhouse co-founder and co-artistic director, Darlene Zoller. Locomotion will serve as additional entertainment for the night and are guaranteed to get guests up on their feet and dancing!

Fabulous auction items await the bids of guests of the Mayor’s Charity Ball! Some notable items are: an afternoon of sailing aboard the J/24 Sparky departing from Noank, CT, including lunch and beverages. White Silo Farm & Winery is offering a wine and chocolate tasting for six guests as well as a tour of the vineyard. The Talcott Mountain Music Festival Experience offers a table for eight of the winner’s choice of event night, and dinner provided by Metro Bis. Mystic Aquarium has offered a birthday party for the winner’s family and 25 of their friends. Various themed parties at the aquarium are tailored to different age groups such as Hermit Crab Hideaway, Penguin Palooza, Explore the Shore and Amazing Sharks, plus many more!

Tickets for the Mayor’s Charity Ball are now on sale, at $200 per person. Guests may also purchase a table for 8 at $1,600 or 10 at $2,000. To learn more about the beneficiaries of The Mayor’s Charity ball, or to purchase tickets, please visit www.themayorscharityball.org.
