A lifelong fan of the Hartford Whalers and later the Boston Bruins, Charlie was an active and beloved member of the West Hartford hockey community. As a formally trained skate sharpener, he ran the Pro Shop at Veterans Memorial Skating Rink for many years, and cherished watching his children and grandchildren play hockey, lacrosse, and other sports.

A lifelong lover of the outdoors and the ocean, Charlie was happiest sailing his catamaran on Niantic Bay and Cape Cod Bay with family and friends, or capturing photos on his many adventures around the world.
