West Hartford Police said following their initial investigation into an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Bishops Corner on Wednesday morning, the pedestrian was issued an infraction.

In a news release sent out Thursday, police said the incident occurred at approximately 11:44 a.m. in the area of 333 North Main Street and was reported as a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, an adult female, received medical aid at the scene from first responders, and according to police was then transported to an area hospital for further treatment and evaluation of what were non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, North Main Street was briefly closed in both directions between Sims Road and Albany Avenue, police said.

The pedestrian was issued an infraction for “reckless use of the highway by a pedestrian,” police said Thursday.

The incident continues to be investigated by the West Hartford Police Department Traffic Division, and police ask that anyone who has information contact the West Hartford Police Department at 860-523-5203, or via the anonymous tip line 860-570-8969 or email [email protected].
