West Hartford Police Investigating Serious Crash on Avon Mountain, Seeking Witnesses

The West Hartford Police Department is hoping to obtain additional information from witnesses regarding a motor vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon.

West Hartford Police are continuing their investigation of a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday afternoon on Route 44 (Albany Avenue) near the entrance to Reservoir No. 6.

Police posted on Twitter at 2:21 p.m. Saturday that the roadway was closed in both directions between West Hartford and Avon while an accident reconstruction team was on the scene and police were conducting an investigation of the crash. A tweet at 8:16 p.m. indicated that the roadway had reopened in both directions.

As they continue the investigation, police are seeking any witnesses to the crash. Witnesses are asked to call police at 860-523-5203, or contact the anonymous tip line at 860-570-8969 or via email at [email protected].

Capt. Dan Moffo said police are not able to provide any further information at this time about the incident or any injuries.
