An active investigation remains underway by West Hartford Police Wednesday night following a shooting on Maplewood Avenue.

According to an overnight email from Capt. Eric Rocheleau, police took a suspect into custody around 2 a.m. Thursday for his involvement in the shooting. Charges against that suspect are pending and more information will follow, police said.

Rocheleau said a 911 call was received at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday indicating that someone at a Maplewood Avenue residence “had been shot and was in need of medical attention.”

Police said that officers responded immediately and located the victim, who was then transported to a local hospital by with what appeared to be serious injuries.

Police did not provide any additional information Wednesday night about the victim or suspect, but did say that the shooting “appears to be an isolated incident.”
