West Hartford Police K9 Helps Apprehend Suspects from Stolen Car

West Hartford Police disabled a vehicle reported stolen and a K9 helped apprehend the suspects.

West Hartford Police said a license plate reader in town identified a vehicle that had been stolen from Cheshire and with the assistance of a K9 team four juvenile suspects were apprehended.

According to a post on the West Hartford Police Department Facebook page, at approximately 10:08 p.m. on Monday a vehicle reported stolen was detected in West Hartford by license plate readers. Officers were successfully able to stop the vehicle using a tire deflation device, but four occupants then abandoned the car and fled in the area of Park Road and Fairlawn Street.

Officers conducted a search and the K9 team of Officer Tim Camerl and K9 Onyx was deployed and successfully located four juvenile suspects who were arrested.

Police said the suspects were charged and released, and will appear at juvenile court.
