West Hartford Police said Thursday that following a thorough investigation, a volunteer with the Wolcott Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) was arrested via warrant and charged with theft of funds from the organization.

According to Lt. Ryan Riley, members of the Wolcott PTO “reported finding financial irregularities and possible misuse of the organization’s finances” to police on Nov. 21, 2024.

The West Hartford Police Detective Division initiated an investigation and ultimately sought and obtained a warrant for the arrest of a PTO volunteer on several criminal charges related to the theft of funds.

Jennifer McAdam, 43, of West Hartford, was arrested on Wednesday, March 12 and charged with second-degree larceny and illegal use of payment card.

Police told We-Ha.com that the total amount of funds that McAdam allegedly stole from the PTO was just over $12,000.

Police did not specify what McAdam’s role with the PTO was at the time of the incident.
