The West Hartford Pride Festival on Saturday, June 24 is the culmination of a month-long celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community that began with a flag-raising on June 1.

West Hartford Pride welcomes people from across the spectrum of age, gender identity, race, sexuality, ability, and class. Everyone is welcome to this family-friendly event.

The day kicks off with the Pride Rally and Call to Action at 11 a.m. on the Town Hall auditorium steps. Rally keynote speaker is Florida State Rep. Michele Raynor-Goolsby, a civil rights and social justice attorney, and the first openly gay woman of color elected to the Florida State Legislature.

West Hartford Pride’s biggest festival event immediately follows the rally at noon in the Town Hall municipal lot, 50 South Main Street. The event features over 100 vendors, food trucks, incredible talent on stage, Ann Cumberly’s puppets, Yard Goats’ mascot Chompers, a selfie wheel, and much more.

West Hartford Pride stage performers include Hartford’s Proud, Sister Funk, Loosey LaDuca, Brian Falduto, Carrie Ashton, Zoë Lewis, J. Santino and the Queens and Kings of West Hartford Pride drag show featuring 20 drag artists.

Sister Funk has been headlining concert arenas, clubs and music festivals playing tracks off of their three independent CD releases. Their pop/rock music is a crowd favorite. Zoë Lewis, affectionately known as “a band in a body,” plays vintage jazz and world beat grooves on anything from the piano to the spoons.

DJ Chestcarpet will close the festival with the Pride Tea Dance at 6 p.m. His high energy and HiFi show will get you moving and celebrating yourself and each other.

West Hartford Pride thanks Walmart as its presenting sponsor and extends much gratitude for the financial and in-kind support of all of its sponsors that help make the festival happen.

Organizers look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday! Visit the West Hartford Pride website to learn more.

The final event of the month celebrating West Hartford Pride will take place on Sunday, June 25, with the “Caffeine Queens” drag brunch at WeHa Brewing and Roasting Company, 141 Shield Street, West Hartford. Doors open at 11 a.m., and more information can be found here.
