Watkinson School senior Kelan Brady of West Hartford was given Honorable Mention in the First Team Hudson Valley Athletic All League.

Watkinson’s boys varsity basketball team was a force to be reckoned with this year with a final record of 19-7. For the first time ever in Watkinson School history, they won the HVAL regular season championship and the HVAL Tournament Championship. They earned the no. 2 seed in the Class D New England tournament and faced Chase Collegiate in the quarterfinals and defeated them. They faced no. 3 Bancroft School from Worcester, MA, and fell to them in the NE semifinals 71-59. It was the first time since 2008 (7 years) that Watkinson Boys were in the NE semifinals.

Other named players included Watkinson junior Michael Sagay of Bloomfield who was named First Team HVAL All League with the highest number of votes making him Player of the Year. Sagay was also named Second Team All New England in the Class D category. Senior Rashawn Dally of Bloomfield was named Third Team All New England, and Watkinson senior Isaiah Williams-Ayala of Hartford was named First Team HVAL All League and Third Team All New England.

Watkinson School is Hartford’s oldest independent day school serving students in grades 6-12/PG.  Their next open house is April 15, from 9-11 a.m.
