We all know the story: guts, determination, dedication, grit, and achieving the impossible against all odds. America loves an underdog, no matter the sport – and in this fully improvised rendition, the audience chooses the sporting event!

The audience will be able to do just that, on April 27 and 28, and May 4 and 5, at 8 p.m., at the Sea Tea Comedy Theater, where the state’s best improvisers will dominate the comedy field, court, or rink. Two weekends only! Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.seateaimprov.com.

This new form was created and produced by Hot Cocco Productions, the improvisers behind the sold-out and popular shows “An Improvised Christmas Carol” and “An Improvised Disaster Movie.” The show will be reminiscent of classic movies Hoosiers, Rocky, Miracle, Rudy, The Mighty Ducks, The Bad News Bears, Breaking Away, and The Karate Kid.

Audience suggestions will shape the story of a team or athlete overcoming all the odds on their way to victory. Will there be unconventional training methods, a sweaty training montage, secret pasts, and team spirit? Every night is completely different!

The cast includes Matt Saccullo of Wethersfield, Kevin MacDermott and Claire Zick of West Hartford, Greg Ludovici, Nate Gagnon, Bryan Thurston, Erica Willis and Drew Bligh of Hartford, Laura Manasewich of East Hartford, Chris Dube of Bethel, Stephanie Moreland of Manchester, and Amy Lavorgna Antioho of Berlin. The actors have performed in improvised productions at the Sea Tea Comedy Theater, Playhouse on Park, and festivals around the country.

The Sea Tea Comedy Theater opened in August 2016 and has put on over 650 comedy events since its opening. “Jocky” joins an exciting spring roster, including improv shows, sketch shows, late-night parodies, and podcast tapings. Sea Tea Improv puts on original programming Friday through Sunday, 52 weeks a year.
