West Hartford Residents Among NWC Seniors to Play College Sports

Members of the Northwest Catholic High School Class of 2016, including several from West Hartford, have announced plans to compete in DII and DIII college sports.

Twenty seniors at Northwest Catholic have announced their intention to compete in Division II or Division III college athletics next year. These students are in addition to five seniors who have already committed to Division I athletic programs. Together, these 25 students who will be playing sports in college represent 17 percent of the Class of ’16.

“Their hard work in the classroom and in their respective sports has put these students in this fantastic position,” said Northwest Catholic Athletic Director Matthew Martorelli ‘03. “As a community, we are so proud and excited to see and hear their stories over the next four years.”

The DII- and DIII-bound athletes from the Class of ’16 are:

  • Michael Adebimpe, West Hartford – Football at Western New England University
  • Costas Bouzakis, Farmington – Soccer at Keene State College
  • Rachel Elliott, Newington – Soccer at Assumption College
  • Erin Feeney, Newington – Basketball at Connecticut College
  • Abbey Fitzsimmons, West Hartford – Soccer at Eastern Connecticut State University
  • Coty George-Davis, Windsor – Football at Becker College
  • Blake Greenslade, Newington – Track and Field at Assumption College
  • Claire Hurtado, Newington – Track and Field at Stonehill College
  • Mary Joerg, Canton – Lacrosse at University of Saint Joseph
  • Bailey Julian, Simsbury – Soccer at Western Connecticut State University
  • Jessica Kelly, West Suffield – Soccer at Assumption College
  • Stephen Laffin, West Hartford – Basketball at St. Michael’s College
  • Patrick Lazor, West Hartford – Basketball at St. Anselm College
  • Thomas Meucci, Newington – Baseball at Keene State College
  • Rebecca Molin, West Hartford – Soccer at Elms College
  • Connor Murphy, West Hartford – Lacrosse at Stevens Institute of Technology
  • Alicia Palmer, Bloomfield – Track and Field at Connecticut College
