Tom DeVitto, standing in photo above, chief marketing officer of BlumShapiro, welcomed students to the firm’s West Hartford headquarters to kick off JA Career Walk.

West Hartford high school students from Conard, Hall, and Kingswood-Oxford visited BlumShapiro and other businesses throughout West Hartford Center for an overview and tour as well as a discussion of the types of occupations the firms employ and qualities they look for when hiring people. During their walk through West Hartford Center, students visited a variety of establishments, including accounting, banking, finance, marketing, retail, and food and beverage.

JA Career Walk was created in 2014 by BlumShapiro, PBI Financial and Junior Achievement of Southwest New England to prepare students for choosing a potential career by gaining a better understanding of job opportunities in their own communities. Since the program’s inception, JA Career Walks have been held in New Haven and Avon, and one is planned for Hartford this year.
