West Hartford Students Honored by American Legion

American Legion 2020 Certificates of Distinguished Achievement have been presented to high school and middle school students in West Hartford.

American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 has awarded its 2020 School Certificates of Distinguished Achievement for 2020. 

The awards, which are presented annually, recognizes students who posses high qualities of: Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship, and Service.

The 2020 recipients for high schools are:

Conard High School

  • Julian Flores, Medal
  • Devan Barnum, Certificate

Hall High School

  • Liam Wilson, Medal,
  • Delnaz Amroliwalla, Certificate

American School for the Deaf

  • Jarmal Puryear, Medal,
  • Cesar Aguilar, Certificate

Northwest Catholic

  • Catherine Hurlburt, Medal
  • Matthew Deneen, Certificate

Intensive Education Academy

  • Emily Masamitsu, Medal
  • Nathan Barbati, Medal
  • Johnathan Noble, Certificate

Bristow Middle School

King Philip Middle School

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans
