Kathy Colello and Mark Nixon met on the golf course in 2008 when Mark spontaneously shared his golf clubs with Kathy for her very first lesson, and the rest is history.
Seven years after they met, Mark surprised Kathy with a proposal at her favorite spot in Newport, RI. The couple was married at Holy Family Retreat Center in West Hartford and it is the first marriage for Kathy and Mark’s second.
Kathy says the “most important part” of their wedding story is “that Mark and I adore each other and truly are best friends and soul mates. We feel very blessed to have found each other at this stage in life …”
See the New York Times’ “Mini Vows” section for more of their story.
Kathy is a senior remote booth coordinator for ESPN, and a marketing and development specialist at Holy Family Retreat Center in West Hartford. Kathy and Mark were married by the retreat center director and dear friend, Fr. David Cinquegrani, in the Center’s chapel.
Mark is the owner of the Stark’s Express, a trucking company in East Hartford.
During the ceremony, soloists Kevin Hadyka and Jennifer Serpliss sang a moving tribute to Kathy’s late parents and Mark’s late father, as well as to Kathy’s late sister-in-law, Aileen Colello, who had passed away one year before the wedding. They sang Josh Groban’s “To Where You Are” and were accompanied by Kathleen Schiano, cellist, and Alex Belair, organist.
For their honeymoon, the couple traveled to Riviera Maya, Mexico. They live in West Hartford.
