West Hartford Women in Networking invites women from anywhere to their January meeting which will be held online via Zoom on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, from 7:30-9:30 a.m.

The speaker will be Samantha Parker of the Salvation Army.

Parker is the survivor support specialist for the Salvation Army’s Bloom Initiative, where she supports survivors of human trafficking transition from exploitation to empowerment. She is a social worker by training, possessing a master’s degree in social work from Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work at the University of Southern California. Her vision is to provide a safe environment for all individuals impacted by human trafficking – to heal and discover their true beauty and worth while working towards self-sufficiency.

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. The presentation will define human trafficking and its various forms, discuss vulnerability factors, identify common red flags and recruitment strategies, and action steps to take if you suspect trafficking.

Since 2011, WWIN has been offering opportunities that empower and connect women. This online meeting will include introductions, announcements, and networking. Bring your own coffee or tea and a scone, muffin, or other breakfast item, and be ready for a presentation from an inspiring speaker in the comfort of your own home.
