Kingswood Oxford junior Andrew Lemkuil joins nine teammates in earning postseason honors in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) for outstanding performance on the football field in the fall of 2014.

Lemkuil, 6’2″, 190 lbs., played both linebacker and receiver for the Wyverns this year. He was named to the First Team All FAA. He is the son of David and Susan Lemkuil of West Hartford.

Kingswood Oxford had its most successful season in Wyvern football history – finishing with a record of 6-2 for a share of the league championship. The Wyverns also received their first bowl bid ever, ending the standout season as runner-up in the Mike Atkins New England Championship Bowl.

Head Coach Jason Martinez said, “It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as a top player in this league. Andrew making all league is a credit to his determination to excel at all the little things make him an outstanding athlete. He never comes off the field for us and plays his heart and soul out. We look for even bigger things out of him next year.”

Nine other KO football players, including West Hartford resident Mason Harvey ’15, also earned postseason honors.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as a top player in the league,” said Head Football Coach Jason Martinez in a news release. “These young men have given everything to our program and have really set the standard here at KO. None of this would be possible without the hard work and sacrifices made by the entire team, our football family.”

According to a news release from Kingswood Oxford, wide receiver Isaiah Wright ’16 of Waterbury, linebacker Koby Quansah ’16 of Manchester, and defensive back Sharrieff Grice ’15 of Naugatuck were named to the NEPSAC’s All New England team. Grice has verbally committed to attend Boston College next year.

The three were also named to the All FAA team, along with Lemkuil, Nye Deskus ’16 of Willington, and Jacob Hallenback ’16 of West Simsbury.

KO players Mason Harvey ’15 of West Hartford, Payton Krupp ’15 of Farmington, Luke Swanson ’15 of Hebron, and Andrew Watson ’15 of Rocky Hill, received FAA Honorable Mention.

“These honors are a testament to the players’ commitment and tenacity on the field and in the weight room,” said Athletic Director Sue Cabot in the release. “The team’s success and these individual honors are the culmination of years of hard work throughout the season and in the off-season, as well.”
