62 Kingswood Oxford Students, Including Many from West Hartford Named AP Scholars

Three students from Kingswood Oxford in West Hartford have been named National AP Scholars.

The College Board has named 62 Kingswood Oxford students as AP Scholars for 2019, based on their exceptional achievement on the Advanced Placement exams they took in May 2019.
The group included three National AP Scholars, Ananya Alleyne ’19 of West Hartford; Yaxin Qi ’19 of Beijing, China; and Benjamin Small ’19 of West Hartford.
Kingswood Oxford also had 25 AP Scholars with Distinction; 11 AP Scholars with Honor; and 26 AP Scholars. The average exam score for all KO’s AP Scholars was 4.18.
According to The College Board, the AP Scholar designations are defined as follows:
- National AP Scholar:Students who receive an average of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams;
- AP Scholar with Distinction:Students who receive an average of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams; •
- AP Scholar with Honor: Students who receive an average of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and 3 or higher on four or more of these exams; and
- AP Scholar: Students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
