Local artists arrived in West Hartford Center early Saturday morning to paint murals on the concrete restaurant barriers.

After numerous weather delays, 13 local artists commissioned by the West Hartford Art League took to the streets early on the morning of July 1 to paint the concrete barriers in front of the West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square restaurants.
The blockades, placed in front of restaurants to expand and enhance outdoor dining, were transformed into colorful and captivating displays. Each unique creation proved to beautify the barriers located on Memorial Road, Farmington Avenue, and LaSalle Road. The respective roads were shut down from 6 a.m until 2 p.m to respect the artist’s safety and many were observed by locals strolling the streets.
The artists on Memorial Road were Julia Trusty and Jen Delgado; on Farmington Avenue included Carlos Ruiz, Emily Barnes, Yvonne Espinoza, and Amanda Mendoza; and on LaSalle Road were Brooke Toczylowski, Nick Glowacki, Dana Loo, Kelly O’Donovan, Lindsay Landry, Emma Huntington, and Amanda Ross.
