Dear Creek, (Kate Potrykus and Alex Salser), will perform at First Church West Hartford on Sunday Nov. 15 at 4 p.m.

Dear Creek began at Shenandoah University in 2009. Singer/guitarist, Kate Potrykus, and guitarist, Alex Salser, could be found writing songs between classes and playing local gigs on the weekends. Soon, Dear Creek grew into a 5-piece group, inspired by the sounds of the Appalachian Valley in which they were cradled, and the grooves of jazz, blues, folk, and rock which moved them to become musicians in the first place.

Two albums, several tours including a recent cross-country adventure, and a few line-ups later, Alex and Kate have stripped down to the very foundation upon which they had started. Now Dear Creek performs live as a duo, debuting some tunes they have written for their new album, “So it Goes.”

This concert will feature an opening act by an as-of-yet-unnamed acapella folk quintet, featuring Kristin O’Connor, Elizabeth Oman, Jacqueline Sugrue, Katie Tewksbury, and Lauren Torres.

There is a $10 suggested donation, and you may park for free behind First Church, and enter the auditorium directly from the parking lot.
