Ballet Theatre Company (BTC) is pleased to offer its popular Girl Scout Dance Workshops on April 7, 2024.

Girl Scouts will explore a short ballet class, learn classical ballet choreography, watch performance excerpts, and learn about costuming. They will get a close up look at costumes and might even get to try on one of BTC’s beautifully hand-made tutus worn by its professional dancers! Activities will be tied to BTC’s upcoming production of Snow White.

The beloved fairytale of Snow White originated as a story written by the Brothers Grimm in the early 19th century and has since been retold in styles ranging from a Broadway play to Disney’s first animated feature film. Artistic Director Stephanie Dattellas’ rendition of Snow White blends elements from the traditional tale with her own ballet twists, following Snow White as she experiences hardships, friendships, and unexpected trials with unwavering kindness. Girl Scouts will learn choreography from BTC’s Snow White, as well as watch performance clips from the production!

The workshops will be held in BTC’s Ron and Nancy Compton Studio at 20 Jefferson Ave., West Hartford, CT. These workshops are open to Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. The workshops will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. for Daisies, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for Brownies, and noon to 1 p.m. for Juniors. Girl Scouts will earn their Dance Badge and explore the magic of dance!
