Ballet Theatre Company (BTC), West Hartford’s premier ballet company located at 20 Jefferson Ave., West Hartford, will be holding community auditions for its upcoming spring productions of “Aladdin” and “Ode to Frank” within the first few weeks of the new year.

“Aladdin,” a classical ballet based off of the original “One Thousand and One Nights” folktales, will be newly choreographed by BTC’s Artistic Director Stephanie Dattellas and will premiere the first weekend of May at the University of Saint Joseph Hoffman Auditorium.

Community dancers ages 7 and up are welcomed to audition on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at BTC Studios. Audition times are determined upon dancer’s age or level. A headshot (no larger than 5×7) and a $20 registration fee will be collected at the door.

Along with classical ballet, the new production will also consist of acrobatics. All those with acrobatic experience are encouraged to notify the artistic staff on the online registration form and may be asked to stay for a separate audition time based upon experience.

Ode to Frank,” a brand new jazz-inspired production choreographed by BTC’s Artistic Director Stephanie Dattellas and set to all Frank Sinatra standards, will tell the coming-of-age story of a young girl who moves to the Big Apple in the 1950s in search of the Broadway spotlight.

BTC is looking for dancers with jazz, tap, and/or swing experience ages 12 and up to audition to participate in the production. The audition will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at BTC Studios from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Auditionees should bring a headshot (no larger than 5×7) to the audition.

Registration for the auditions and more information about BTC’s spring productions is available online at www.dancebtc.org. All auditionees are encouraged to register online before the audition date. Online registration will end the evening before the audition. Onsite registration will be available, but is not recommended.
