Approximately 150 people – students, parents, and staff – from West Hartford’s Bristow Middle School took part in a fun physical activity while raising money to support families in their own community at Thanksgiving.
Bristow Physical Education teacher Jared Leghorn said the event, which will become an annual occurrence, raised $1,350 that will be donated directly back to Bristow families.
Each entrant paid $15 to enter, and in turn received a Turkey Trot t-shirt and the right to participate. The physical education teachers will use the funds raised to shop and deliver Thanksgiving items to the families in the Bristow community that are in need, Leghorn said.
“We as a physical education team wanted to to thank everyone for coming out and supporting the Turkey Trot. Without the help from all of you, this event would not have been possible!” Leghorn said in an email to the school community.
