Overcast skies and relatively cool temperatures were perfect for Sunday morning’s 31st annual Celebrate! West Hartford – an event that has been part of the town’s signature festival since its second year.

West Hartford resident Everett Hackett, 28, a graduate of Hall High School and assistant track coach at his alma mater, was the first to cross the finish line in 15:07, just three seconds off the record time that he set when he won last year’s race.

Marisa Jones, 36, of Avon also returned as female champion, finishing in 17:19 (seventh overall), just one second off her winning time from 2017.

Prizes were also given to the first runners from West Hartford to cross the finish line (other than the overall winner) and those were awarded to Gregory Weaver, 38, in fifth place overall with a time of 16:54. Jenna Zydanowicz, 16, was the first West Hartford female to cross the finish line with a time of 18:33.

Everyone was a winner in the Kids Race, with all wearing bib no. 1, and earning a medal.
