Following the addition and success of several new programs and exhibits, The Children’s Museum is pleased to announce significant progress and growth over the last year, reporting a 27 percent increase in revenues.

“The success of the last year is a testament to the incredible hard work and dedication of our entire team,” says Dr. Michael Werle, Executive Director of The Children’s Museum. “Over the last year we have doubled down on our commitment to providing a fun, educational and high-quality experience to the community – and the numbers are a strong reflection of that engagement.”

“The Board is thrilled with this progress,” adds Peter Stevens, Board Chair for The Children’s Museum. “The Museum increased revenues, ended the year with a small operating surplus, and still managed to increase its impacts – we served more children and schools, debuted new exhibits, and created new programs. It’s been a great year and we are really looking forward to the year ahead.”

In addition to its general admission, the Museum serves nearly 26,000 students and adults with educational programs at schools, libraries and other institutions across Connecticut. It also hosts more than 15,000 students and adults who visit the museum for quality education programs during school field trips.

Recently, the Museum unveiled its plan to move to the former UConn West Hartford campus, celebrated the 40th birthday of its iconic mascot, Conny the whale, with nearly 400 people attending, and continues to operate one of the largest wildlife centers in New England in its partnership with Roaring Brook Nature Center.

“For children, play is serious learning,” adds Werle. “We have a long tradition of providing children with fun and interactive learning experiences. While our growth over the last year is extraordinary, it’s our value to the community that we can’t put a price tag on.

The Children’s Museum and Roaring Brook Nature Center are the region’s premiere destinations for exploration and education. Home to over 100 live animals, the Museum features hands-on exhibits, out-of-this-world digital planetarium shows, and programs for young children and families.

The Children’s Museum and Preschool are located at 950 Trout Brook Dr. in West Hartford and Roaring Brook Nature Center is located at 70 Gracey Rd. in Canton. More information is available at www.TheChildrensMuseumCT.org.
