The Conard boys soccer team hosted Lewis Mills on Thursday at home in West Hartford.

Thursday at 4:30 p.m. the Conard boys soccer team faced off against Lewis Mills at home in West Hartford. The final score was 2-1 with Lewis Mills (Burlington) taking home the win.

Lewis Mills started off with an early lead in the first half. The team scored a goal from a short range shot that left the keeper no chance.

Henry Eagan, the starting goalkeeper for Conard, made a big save from a solo counter attack following a corner kick. Conard’s defenses had let up at this moment and he managed to stop the ball with no defenders in sight, keeping the game alive.

In the middle of the second half, Conard equalized the score with a volley inside the box by the senior Cameron Robinson. This was a big moment and Robinson ran and kicked over the corner flag with the team celebrating with him. This really energized the Conard supporters.

Nearing the end of the second half, Lewis Mills scored another goal off of a corner kick which was expertly headed into the back of the net.

Despite Conard retaining most of the ball possession this game, they were unable to take the victory from their lack of chance creation.

Eagan commented that the team needed to “work on set on their set pieces.”

Jacob Dandrea, the fullback for Conard, feels that the team need to “apply more pressure to score in the other half of the pitch.”

This was a competitive game from both teams, but Lewis Mills (2-2) came out on top.

With the loss, the Red Wolves are 1-1-1 in the young season. They will host RHAM at home on Tuesday beginning at 3:45 p.m., and travel to Malone (Meriden) on Thursday.
