On Tuesday night, the girls basketball teams from crosstown West Hartford rivals Hall High School and Conard High School met for their first of two games this season.
Both teams got off to a slow start, but Conard was able to find their rhythm early and went on a 11-2 run in the first quarter. Hall worked hard in the second and third quarters tying it up, but Conard kept the pressure on and was able to hold off, Hall finishing with a 36-28 win.
Conard was lead by their two freshmen starters, Callie Cosgrove with 15 points and Courtney McPhee with 11. Tatiana Harrison lead the Chieftains in rebounding with 6.
Hall’s Junior forward Abby Magendantz picked up 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Jenna Zydanowitz had 7 points and 4 steals.
Conard (6-6) plays Middletown on Friday and Hall (2-6) has a busy week ahead with Canton on Thursday, Simsbury on Friday, and South Windsor on Saturday.
