State Rep. Kate Farrar (D-West Hartford) held a press conference Tuesday in Hartford about a proposed child tax credit that would provide $600 per child to families.

Democratic representatives are once again advocating for a child tax credit after a similar effort came up short during the 2024 legislative session.

House Bill 5986, An Act Establishing a Refundable Child Tax Credit Against the Personal Income Tax, has the support of over 60 Democratic legislators and aims to provide much-needed financial relief to Connecticut families.

At a news conference Tuesday, state Reps. Kate Farrar, D-West Hartford, and Antonio Felipe, D-Bridgeport, stood alongside parents and advocates to discuss the growing need for a permanent child tax credit in response to the rising cost of living.
