“My belief in lifelong learning has always been central to my life.” That philosophy has guided award-winning Connecticut mixed-media artist Beth S. Goldberg throughout a career spanning more than seven decades, and it continues to inspire her today at age 92.

Goldberg was recently featured by Artsy Shark, a nationally respected publication showcasing accomplished contemporary artists. The feature shines a spotlight on an artist whose career has been defined not by settling into a signature style, but by continually exploring new materials, new techniques, and new ways of seeing the world.

For Goldberg, creativity has never been about arriving at a destination. It has always been about remaining curious enough to discover what comes next.

Throughout her career, Goldberg has worked in watercolor, acrylic, collage, fabric, wire, mesh, graphite, frottage, and found materials. Rather than repeating the same approach, she has continually embraced experimentation, allowing each new medium to influence the next stage of her artistic journey.

After earning a master’s degree in art therapy, Goldberg worked with veterans living with PTSD, psychiatric patients, people with developmental disabilities, and older adults, using creative expression to foster healing, confidence, and connection.

Later, when her husband developed cardiovascular dementia, creativity became deeply personal. She turned to art, music, photographs, and shared memories to preserve communication and emotional connection – an experience that continues to influence both her outlook and her artwork.

Over the years, Goldberg has exhibited her work, received numerous awards, and presented more than 40 workshops and demonstrations for art leagues, libraries, and community organizations throughout Connecticut. Those who know her often remark not only on the vibrancy of her artwork, but on her enthusiasm for encouraging others to discover their own creativity.

Reflecting on her work today, Goldberg says, “Art continues to provide me with a creative and emotional outlet. I love experimenting with different media, textures, and materials, allowing each piece to evolve organically. My goal is to continue creating art that is vibrant and meaningful.”

Her recent Artsy Shark feature serves as a timely reminder that creativity is not something reserved for youth. In Goldberg’s life, it has remained a lifelong practice – one that continues to evolve with every new painting.
