Six years ago, a committee of dedicated woman hosted a fundraising reception in Hartford to acknowledge and honor of Grace Academy’s first class of eighth grade graduates.

This initial fundraiser has grown into Grace Academy’s signature event, known as the “The Power of Grace.” Today, 14 dedicated women organize all aspects of the benefit which has been widely embraced by area businesses and the Greater Hartford community.

The Power of Grace 2017 event raised over $253,000 with 94 percent of the proceeds going directly back to the school. This year, The Power of Grace will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Infinity Hall in Hartford, CT. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities can be found on Grace Academy’s website, GraceAcademyHartford.org/ThePowerOfGrace.

About Grace Academy

Grace Academy is the only private, tuition-free middle school for girls in Greater Hartford. Its focused mission is to break the cycle of urban poverty through education for girls of all faiths from low-income families. Grace works to inspire in students a love of learning, an awareness of their own interests and ideas, a fundamental understanding of culture and an abiding sense of responsibility to the community. This academic year, Grace Academy is serving 56 girls in grades five through eight and 53 girls in high schools, such as Westminster, Northwest Catholic, Loomis Chaffee, Watkinson and several others. This past fall, every member of Grace Academy’s first class of graduates (Class of 2013) entered college! Providing an intensive, holistic middle school education with financial and tutoring support through high school leading to a college education is, in Grace Academy’s view, the best way to break the cycle of urban poverty.
