Hall vs. Farmington turned into a high-scoring, back-and-forth battle that ultimately slipped away late, despite a strong push from Hall in the final periods.
Hall came out aggressively in the opening quarter Saturday morning, highlighted by an unassisted goal from Matthew McDermott at the 8:32 mark to take an early lead. The defense also showed flashes, with key breakups helping maintain momentum early on. However, Farmington responded quickly, tying the game 1-1 on an unassisted goal from Emerson Stambaugh before taking control with another score from Zain Toor to make it 2-1 by the end of the first.

The second period is where Farmington created separation. After an own goal extended their lead to 3-1, they continued to capitalize offensively, adding multiple unassisted goals to stretch the margin to 6-1. Hall’s defense had moments – credited with several breakups – but struggled to contain Farmington’s sustained pressure.
Facing a five-goal deficit, Hall showed resilience in the third period. Connor McHugh struck again, unassisted, to make it 6-2, sparking some life.

Even as Farmington answered to push the lead to 7-2, Hall kept battling. A goal from Ben Goldstein, assisted by McDermott and Declan Mitchell, cut into the deficit, and Robert Biondi added another with help from McHugh, bringing the score to 7-4.
Hall’s push continued into the fourth period. McHugh completed a standout performance with another goal, closing the gap to 7-6 with just over ten minutes remaining. Despite the late surge and momentum shift, Hall ultimately ran out of time, falling just short in a game that showcased both their defensive and offensive capability.

While the final result didn’t go their way, Hall’s ability to rally from a large deficit and nearly complete the comeback highlights the team’s determination and offensive depth.
Hall (2-2) will be back home on Monday at 6 p.m., hosting Southington.
