Junior Anthony McKeown scored 19 points and fellow classmate Colby Hurlock added 15 points to lead a balanced scoring attack in the Titans convincing 70-53 CIAC first round tournament win over No. 15 seed Newtown.
Hall held a 32-26 halftime lead, extended it to 45-36 after three quarters, then pulled away early in the fourth as McKeown and Hurlock both hit a pair of 3-pointers to secure the win for the 18th-seeded Titans.
Hall converted 11 3-pointers in the game, led by Hurlock with five.
Seniors Amecca Freeman, Chase Hanawalt and Cooper Griffin added 12, nine, and eight points respectively, and Freeman played terrific defense all night in slowing down Newtown all-state guard Makai Coleman.
Hall (11-9 in the regular season) now moves on to face second-seeded Windsor in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Windsor High School.
