Dear Editor,

I am writing in support of Chris Barnes for the 19th District.

I had the opportunity to work with Chris when I reached out to him regarding an issue between a local non-profit arts organization with which I was involved and the Town of West Hartford. In addressing the issue, I found Chris to be open-minded, thoughtful and truly interested in identifying a creative solution that would best serve the needs of the community both in the short and long term. I was further impressed by Chris’ ability to reach across the aisle and work closely with then Mayor Scott Slifka as well as Town Manager Ron Van Winkle.

Chris is exactly the type of individual we need to address the fiscal challenges our state is facing. He is not afraid to ask the tough questions, and he will probe deeply to truly understand the issues. Further, he will work tirelessly on behalf of our district to identify solutions to return fiscal growth to our state and make it attractive to both businesses and families.

Chris is also a kind and compassionate person. He serves as a mentor in the West Hartford Public School System, and is active in a number of other volunteer organizations in the community.

As a long time independent, who is fiscally conservative and socially liberal, I am confident that Chris is the best candidate to represent our district and am proud to support him for election on November 8th.
