To the editor:

I was disappointed to read in the story “West Hartford Police Hold Swearing-in for New Officer” that Fort Liberty was still referred to as Fort Bragg. Fort Liberty was named in June 2023, and the old Fort Bragg name was retired. Even if the officer was there when it was Fort Bragg, mention should have been made that it is now Fort Liberty. We need to make sure these Confederate soldier names do not get used anymore. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Marsha Evans
West Hartford

Editor’s Note: The article has been updated to reflect that the military base has been renamed.
