To the Editor,

So many of us feel a great loss with John Droney’s passing. He was the best political leader I have ever known. He understood that good politics is the art of the possible.

John was instrumental in so many national, state and local campaigns. It was a privilege to work with him and his political partner Marilyn Cohen, to rebuild the West Hartford Democratic party and leed it to a largely unbroken string of victories ever since. Our town’s success is very much a part of John’s legacy.

John was tough when he had to be but also caring and funny. A Vietnam War veteran, he loved his country. He also deeply loved his family and got to spend his later years being a big part of his grandchildren’s lives.

John Droney’s legacy will live on.

Kevin Sullivan
