To the Editor:

This year’s Democratic primary on Aug. 11 is approaching and early voting has already started, so Connecticut voters have an important choice to make regarding the future of our state. The governor provides the voice and vision for our state, so for me the choice is clear: I am supporting Governor Ned Lamon for re-election.

I am now in my late-30s. It took me time to engage politically, and it will take other young voters time too. There is no better time than the present. The challenges young voters face are not unique and span generations. Home ownership feels increasingly out of reach. Health insurance is becoming harder to obtain and navigate. The job market is tightening, thanks in no small part to the explosion of AI. I am supporting Ned Lamont’s re-election because he recognized these challenges and worked to address them before it was politically convenient.

Ned Lamont expanded housing planning in our communities, proposed a public healthcare option, and passed legislation protecting Connecticut from AI-driven discrimination and job displacement. I haven’t even mentioned his responsible stewardship of the state budget and thoughtful funding of state programs.

This election is about reliable, thoughtful leadership that delivers results. Ned Lamont has delivered results that matter to me and deserves the chance to keep building them. I strongly encourage my fellow Democrats to turn out for early voting from August 3 to August 9, or cast their ballots on Primary Day, Aug. 11, to vote for Ned Lamont. Let’s keep Connecticut moving in the right direction.
