To the editor,

I enthusiastically support Kate Farrar for State Representative in the 20th District serving West Hartford and now Newington. Kate listens to the community, and turns suggestions and needs into real results. She is an effective leader who helps build community.

Kate knows what representative government means. She knocks on doors and talks to residents and small business owners – even when there is not an election – to find out what issues most concern them.

Then Kate turns these ideas from constituent concerns into action. I know this because I was one of them. I had an idea to have our state provide rebates for electric bikes, and Kate worked with her colleagues to make it happen. Kate takes action to address our climate crisis and is dedicated to creating a greener future.

Kate also helped secure nearly $5 million in state funding for economic and community projects including $415,000 in bond money for the Noah Webster House and West Hartford Historical Society. They will use the money to complete renovating the West Hartford History Center and increase access to their important archives.

As a former teacher, I especially value how Kate engages young people. She regularly meets with high school students to hear their ideas and gives them opportunities to get involved in the legislative process. She is building democracy and opening the door to civic engagement that can develop habits for a lifetime.

Her first term speaks volumes about her ability to get things done. Make your plan to vote on November 8 and be sure to vote for Kate!

Sincerely,

Tracey Wilson
West Hartford
