To the Editor,
I want to say a big thank you to whoever put those painted letters on the stairway between Main Street and Blue Back Square. Blue, white, and red across the brick wall. Mark Twain quotes. String lights. A mosaic on the side.
My kids trace the letters when we walk past. It makes a regular walk more fun.
The wall has some rust stains from water runoff. The letters are still there, just a little harder to read in spots. It doesn’t need a big project. Just someone to look at the drainage and maybe seal the wall.
Thank you for making that stairway what it is. A little maintenance now keeps it that way for years.

Yikes! That Alphabet wall has turned into an eyesore with the popping of the brick veneer, the rust water stains, the sun fading of the original painted letters. I’m shocked at the complete lack of pride by the owners of Blue Back Square. Squalid is the term I would use for that staircase which leads down to the open “brick veneer paved courtyard which in all honesty also needs more than a bit of maintance done on its surfaces as well.
Also, the mosaic tiles still promote the Park Road Playhouse which closed in 2009. It would be great if it could be updated to feature Playhouse on Park which opened in June 2009. I’ve brought this up over the years but with ownership changes, not sure it was with the latest/newest group.
Totally agree that the alphabet stairs could use a refresh as well as some strategically placed trash cans. The patio still has a nice vibe and i am always pleasantly surprised by the various activities going on there. That being said, the area has deteriorated and needs attention.
